As GCSE qualifications are awarded today, celebrations are getting underway again at Wye School in Kent.

This year, 79% of students achieved a pass (grade 4 or above) in both English and Maths, with 59% achieving grade 5 or above in the two subjects.

Amongst those students celebrating particular successes are:

  • Lola, who achieved five 9s (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Drama), three 8s and a 7;

  • Ruby, who achieved two 9s (History and Spanish), an 8, five 7s and a 6;

  • Jenna, who achieved one 9 (Geography), two 8s and a 5.

Commenting on today’s results, Luke Magee, Principal at Wye School, said:

“Our Year 11s can be very proud of their achievements today, representing a strong set of outcomes across the whole year group. This is testament to their determination, ambition and hard work over the past few years, including through the challenges of the pandemic, and their confidence in their abilities to succeed.

“As we congratulate students, I would also like to pay tribute to the dedication of our staff, who continue to ensure our students have the knowledge, skills and support they need to make good progress. We know that this year’s achievements will inspire our younger year groups over the coming years and we look forward to welcoming back many of these Year 11s shortly to continue their studies at our Sixth Form.”
