Ms Janet Naylor, who is currently Deputy Head Teacher at Uplands Community College in East Sussex, will take up the post when the free school opens this September. Ms Naylor, who started her teaching career as an English teacher, has held senior leadership positions in schools in Kent and Sussex for more than ten years.

Ms Naylor, who grew up in Kent and attended Maidstone Girls’ Grammar School, has spent most of her teaching career in schools in Paddock Wood and Medway.

Announcing the appointment, Margaret Williams, Chair of the Wye Free School Group, said:

“We are thrilled to have appointed Ms Naylor to be the first Principal of Wye School. Janet is a talented and inspirational school leader and we have every confidence that under her leadership, Wye School will have the best possible start. Having spent all her teaching career in schools in the south east, Janet knows this area well and will make sure that Wye School truly reflects the community it serves.”

Commenting on her appointment, Ms Naylor said:

“I am delighted to have been appointed Principal of Wye School. The post of Principal of a new free school is a dream position for me and I am really excited about working with the Wye community as we create Wye School.

“The plans which are already in place for the new school are incredibly exciting and I look forward to working with the Free School Group and United Learning as we make the school a reality.”

The school’s first Year 7 students and their parents will have an opportunity to meet Ms Naylor at transition events to be held during the Summer Term.
