On Friday 7th March, a selected group of some of our most community-aware students attended We Day at Wembley Arena, where they saw some amazing performances and speakers like Ellie Goulding, Jennifer Hudson, Dizzee Rascall, Malala Yousafzai, Prince Harry and Sir Richard Branson. Not unsurprisingly, the students left inspired and determined to take action to improve local and international communities.

Writing about the event, Ms Burden said, ‘It was a delight to take the selected pupils to represent Wye School at We Day last week. It is safe to say that we all had an incredible time and it was great to see the pupils so inspired to make a difference on their return. After our return from Belgium we will begin to put some of the things we have learned into action and make a difference to people who are less fortunate than us.’

Jess Harrison gives her account of the day.

‘We Day was an incredible experience I will never forget. It was mind-blowing. I got the chance to see some inspirational people that I would never get the chance to see otherwise. I was inspired by the enthusiasm to change the world and make it a better place. People spoke out to make their voice heard even though, in the past, there was a chance they would get hurt, like Malala. I was most inspired by Molly, a blind lady, who was a target for bullies when she was younger. You could see the emotion in her face and I really felt for her. She made me want to make a difference and stop people bullying others. I was stunned by the amazing performances such as Diversity and Ellie Goulding. Overall the day made me want to make every difference possible no matter how big or small it is.’
