Wye School is and will remain a small school, not exceeding our annual published admission number (PAN) of 90 students. We have a close-knit, family atmosphere, with all students known by all staff, strong holistic pastoral care and high standards of behaviour.

When students enter the school, they are placed in one of our houses: Crown, Stour and Olantigh. The house system creates a clear sense of belonging as students compete against each other in a variety of activities, including sport, the arts and academic performance.

Crown House

Named after the Wye Crown, which was cut into the chalk hillside behind the school by Wye College students in 1902 to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII, it has been maintained ever since and is a well loved local landmark.
Stour House

Named after the River Stour which passes through Wye, flowing through the Low Weald and Kent Downs, from its source at Lenham to its estuary at Pegwell Bay.
Olantigh House

Named after the Olantigh Estate which is near the school and home to a historic mansion, gardens, parkland and farmland. The estate, and the families that have lived in it, have been central to the Wye story and have links with the school through our Local Governing Body.

Year groups are the focus of our pastoral system, run by Heads of Year. Within their year group, students are split into tutor groups and meet daily to register, participate in a range of activities, and reflect weekly on their progress and targets. Tutors form a close bond with tutees and support them both academically and pastorally throughout their time at Wye School. These relationships are established through transition activities and an induction programme when students start their education at Wye School.
