Luke Magee, Principal of Wye School, said of their above average Progress 8 score of +0.33:
“As a non-selective free school we are very pleased to be above the national average for Progress 8. We firmly believe in the ability of all our students – no matter their background or starting point – to achieve highly and it gives me great pride as a Head Teacher to see this borne out in the progress they are making. We have now had two excellent sets of GCSE results since opening in 2013, reflecting the hard work, determination and enthusiasm which cascades down throughout our school. I know our students and staff are all keen to replicate these successes next summer, when we will see our founding cohort of students receive their first A Levels.”
Free Schools generally were the highest performing type of school again, with a national average Progress 8 of +0.21. Wye School were significantly above this average. We were also well above the local non-selective school progress outcomes, as well as some grammars.
