Visit by Rt Hon Damian Green, MP for Ashford

On Friday 28th February, we were delighted to welcome the Rt Hon Damian Green, MP for Ashford, to Wye School. He met with the Principal, Jan Naylor, and the Chair of Governors, Margaret Williams, to discuss the school.  He asked about admissions, progress towards the permanent site and our approach to teaching and learning.

This was followed by a tour of the site, visiting classes and talking to students about their experiences.

Afterwards, he met a number of students for a discussion on what it was like to a student at Wye School.  Here is what some of them said:

‘It was interesting to talk to Damian Green as it was his first visit to the school.  He asked me about what I was doing in Science and said he found the school interesting.’  Elliott Carlton

‘Meeting Mr Green was an eye-opening experience, seeing what adults want to know about our school.  I hope he thought we were good students. He certainly had a good sense of humour.’  Maggie Larsen

‘I enjoyed meeting Mr Green as it was good to talk about our school and I was proud to represent it.  He asked me about how much homework I got.’  Samuel Stevens

‘Today I met our MP and he asked us about all the different activities we did at the school and I gave many examples.’   Maddy Exell

‘When I met Damian Green, he asked us questions about our school and seemed really interested.  I explained to him about making sock monkeys.’  Alesha Perry
