On Tuesday 29th April, four of our gifted and talented Science students took part in the ‘Salters’ Festival of Chemistry’, at the University of Kent. This is a prestigious event which is run in conjunction with the Royal Society of Chemistry. The students took part in challenges including: ‘The Blot Strikes Again’, a forensic science investigation and ‘Multi-coloured column’ which was looking at solutions of different densities. Students were competing against other Kent secondary schools who had both year 7 and 8 students represented. Mrs Cook (our Science Technician) was very proud of the enthusiasm shown by Elliot Carlton, Abbie Bean, Megan Champion and Chloe Owen-Nicol.

It was really fun going to the Science Festival as the experiments were very intriguing and I loved the cool show, in which they used Liquid Nitrogen to make clouds, destroy flowers, cut leather, squash bananas and best of all make the smoothest ice cream – yum!
