Congratulations to Shane Warren, our teacher of English and Combined Cadet Force leader, who went to the Lord Lieutenant awards last night and received an award for the work he did for OPERATION RESCRIPT (Covid effort) as part of the Army Reserve.

The citation reads:

For outstanding loyalty and commitment to the Reserve Forces, Sergeant Warren, is awarded the Lord-Lieutenant’s Meritorious Service Certificate.

Sergeant Warren joined the Squadron in 2008 after deploying on Operation HERRICK 14 in 2011, as a Petroleum Operator during operations in Afghanistan. After this tour, he supported Operation OLYMPICS, in a security role.

A very consummate Reservist, he has qualified on many courses including Skill at Arms, Range Management, Combat Marksman Coach and Dismounted Close Combat Trainer Operator, enabling him to develop soldiers on a Regimental level.

Recently, his commitment to Operation RESCRIPT, support to the Coronavirus pandemic, he deployed at short notice to command a team of 16 soldiers over a four-week period. This task, at a distribution centre in Kent ensured that critical personal protective equipment was distributed to key front-line National Health Service workers.

He has recently also joined the Army Cadet Force as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, where he is an excellent mentor to the Cadets.
