Wye School Prize Giving 2016

On Thursday 21st July we welcomed parents to separate prize-giving events for all three year groups.  We celebrated the success of our young people and their academic, community and sporting achievements and students shared their highlights and memories of the year and performed musical and dramatic pieces.

Our Shining Star awards are for those with the most achievement points in their year and were presented to:

  • Year 7 – Lydia Owen

  • Year 8 – Amy McNally

  • Year 9 – Elliot Carlton

We also presented our Community Shield awards to the students who had contributed most to their school and wider community and were role models for their peers and these coveted awards were given to:

  • Year 7 – Sophie Goundry

  • Year 8 – Hannah Kelleher

  • Year 9 – Megan Champion

Sports Junior and Intermediate champions were:

  • Junior: Tallulah Holy and Kai Jones

  • Intermediate: Alex Rampton and Bethan Griffin

Our final presentation was the Simon Andrews Award, given in memory of our former governor and member of the proposer group, who sadly passed away eighteen months ago.  This award recognises outstanding contribution to the school community and the recipient, Mark Boughton, was honoured with this because of his regional and national success on behalf of the school, his myriad of in-school contributions and his exemplary character.

This was a wonderful celebration of the many gifts and talents of our young people. The photographs depict our winners.
