WYE SCHOOL CELEBRATES ITS FIRST EVER GCSE RESULTS

Those receiving their results today are the students who formed the school’s very first year group when it opened in 2013.

66% of students achieved five or more 9-4/A*-C grades including English and Maths, under this year’s new GCSE grading structure, which is higher than national average. The preliminary Progress 8 figure shows the results are significantly above national and local averages.

Amongst those celebrating were:

  • Elliot Carlton who achieved eight Level 9s and two Level 8s
  • Megan Champion achieved two Level 9s, two Level 8s, two Level 7s and four Level 6s
  • Megan Miller who achieved two Level 9s, two Level 8s, three Level 7s, two Level 6s and a Level 5
  • Bethan Griffin who achieved one Level 9, four Level 8s, an A grade, three Level 6s and a Level 5

Luke Magee, Principal of Wye School, said:

“We are extremely pleased with these results – our first as a school. I would like to congratulate our students who have done so well. We look forward to them joining our brand new Sixth Form in September and continuing their education with us.”

Margaret Williams, Chair of its Local Governing Body, said:

“When United Learning set up Wye School, our purpose was to create an excellent school for local families. As the school has grown, we have become more popular each year. These results are evidence as to the reasons why. We are a strong, academic school filled with happy, ambitious children who love coming here. Those celebrating today have been with us since day one. It is lovely to see them getting such good grades.”
